Hitachi Energy India Limited has won a contract worth Rs 1.60 billion for supply of traction transformers to Indian Railways (IR). The transformers will be delivered to Chittaranjan Locomotive Works and Diesel Loco Modernisation Works. The orders were placed in October-December 2021 period. Being the operator of the world’s fourth-largest railway network, IR strives to achieve 100 per cent electrification of broad-gauge routes by 2023.
