Southern Railway (SR) has generated a revenue of Rs 1.49 billion from operating a total of 1,807 special trains during 2023-24 (till January 2024). While, the zone registered a revenue of Rs 0.92 billion from operating a total of 1,297 special train services during the same period in 2022-23. Further, the route between Chennai to Nagercoil is one of the most demanding routes for these trains.
